World Wide - Youth Convention '07
The convention was awesome. Al Griffin was hilarious and really drove home some important points. He didn't care whos toes he stepped on and at this point we should all know if it hurts it means that they're probably right.
The first night he talked about David facing Goliath and related it to our own personal struggles with sin/circumstances. He spoke about how Goliath may seem huge in the physical but we can easily overcome it in the spiritual. He also brought up that once we knock out the sin/circumstance we need to go kill it completely and then go after the army that followed it. The reference for the night was all of 1 Sam : 17.
The morning of Saturday had a similar idea but not quite. While Friday's message was having to do with our sin and circumstance, this message seemed to be more related to our own personal responce to things that occur in our day-to-day life. He read from Acts 28: 1-10 and talked about how Paul was deserted on an island with a group of sailors and then was bitten by a viper. He stressed the understanding that vipers don't bite but instead they chew and poison. He pointed out you can't yank off the snake because it will chew harder and inject more posion. He read that Paul shook it off into the fire and continued on and let us know that this should be our response to issues that may arise.
The second service of Saturday was all dedicated to anointing. He went through the history of the anointing oil and the importance each ingredient, found in Exodus 30: 22-38, had and how each ingredient related directly to Christ. He then called out Jeff Hillier, the PAOC District Youth Director for this region, and got every youth leader to gather around him as he anointed him with this oil that he had made while dicussing its importance. After that each youth leader came back and anointed their youth group. As all who were present are aware the Lord definately made a prescence that night.
Sunday mornings service was all about Christ's thirst for us and ours for Him and how while we may be desperate enough for anything, only the purifying water of Christ is enough to fill you. He referenced alot of different scriptures including Christ on the cross saying "I thirst" and the command to give water to the poor because you are truly giving it to Jesus Himself. He ended the sermon by passing a big wooden cross over the outstretched hands of the crowd and we passed it throughout the whole crowd and then all bowed down in worship. It was an incredible end to the weekend.
Outside of the sermons was also fun involving bands, skateboarding, shopping, food and fellowship. It was a great weekend and I can't wait for the next!

Well I must agree that this past weekend was awesome and I can't wait to see what God is going to do next. But we have to remember we can't sit around waiting for more, but we have to go and tell our friends how great God is, and share our testimony. I love to hear what other people thought of the weekend
